Only Apples and a Sleeping Kitty

I finally found a some time this weekend to check on a few things. Only Apples and a Sleeping Kitty for you this week. Starting with my one amazing Red Delicious Apple tree. This is a large galvanized tub more than 2/3 full of yummy apples. No they are not perfect. However, ohh soo tasty. I was super surprised at how big a few of them were.

I could not believe it. Joe was surprised too.

This same day I found spots for some saplings that I have had since early fall. There was a Tamarack tree. Which I had never hear of but think Pine tree that looses it needle each fall. Kinda besides the point of a pine, right? But the needles get a bright shade of yellow. I thought it would be cool. We will see what happens. Plus I had to add a second Hazelnut tree to the homestead. I have one and it needs a second to pollinate. They are both small but now we should be good to go… in a couple years. Lastly, I had three Elderberry bushes. Two American and I do not recall the third. I needed the third one as a pollinator of the other two. Joe helped with this one because I created a ‘berry bed’. I want to try to see if I can get Triple Crown Blackberries to grow here. I now need to find a place to get bareroots or plants for those.

The sleeping kitty is how I will end this post. Mr. Gorilla Cookies was a happy boy with these cooler temps this last week. He is very much looking forward to more of the same. He will have to wait for a little longer I think.
