Working on more color Hello there everyone!! I took this while I was picking Mulberries. Yes, we have a Mulberry tree on the homestead. I have them patiently waiting for Joe to be off so that we can enjoy them. Possibly thinking either in pancakes or even some fresh muffins. I hope that you had another great week. It has been CRAZY busy here! Working on more color AND… I was so thankful to have Kendra, a friend from Illinois and fellow gardener, come to visit. With her visit we had PLENTY of shenanigans and a little bit of work. Seriously!! We spent the morning and early afternoon on Friday…

Plenty of Pretty things on the Homestead This seemed like a great place to start, the entrance. With Plenty of Pretty things on the Homestead the beginning is best. If you have been up my walk you know that I love to has flowers here too. The flowers will be coordinated throughout the front porch. Some pops of orange and white all throughout. Just above the wagon and pots is this hanging basket. Here is where the purple gets tied into the soon to be blooming Dahlias further down the porch. The middle photo is just to the left of the front door. Joe and I love Coleus. All the…

A very Weedful week Starting off with some blue beauty. This thing is really growing more like a weed. However, if you look closely at the bottom left Cuddles was helping me scope out the Chicken Coop site. The rest of the time it was A very Weedful week. I did find some treasures too!! Lets start out with the pretties… Peony, the first to bloom of all the 8 different ones here on the homestead. This one is over by the chicken coop. And all I can say is that Joe’s Grandmas roses NEVER disappoint. Here is the first bloom and the bush is covered!! Lots more irises this…

Mooch Flowers and Visitors too We had a fun filled week here, I hope you did also! I have Mooch Flowers and Visitors too for you this week. Mooch gets top billing. Guys, he made it to summer. This poor guy can not see, but that nose knows. Joe took him out back in the shade early last week, before the crazy heat. He was enjoying all the sniffy sniffs. He did not roam too far. I did think it was funny that he decided to lay in my ground cover. Thankful for each day with this guy. My friend and neighbor Lynn and I went flower shopping over the…

Dirt Snoopervisors and Full Glory Trees, the Homestead
Dirt Snoopervisors and Full Glory Get a load at these Dirt Snoopervisors and Full Glory Trees. So the first “snoopervisor” was Cuddles. She decided that she liked to help with only the onions. Goodness knows why but she had to be in the center of it. Than of course when she did not like me moving her, YES, she was in the way. She decided to take a bath… Now Junior was just hanging out on the sidelines. However, as soon as I was ready to start the next row of planting… he decided to move. Right in my digging path. Seriously!! I have to say that you know that…

A long Hot week here on the Homestead
A long Hot week here It sure has been A long Hot week here on the homestead. As you can see this was a cloudy morning, but dang it those Fiesta Hibiscus did not care one bit. A few hours earlier they were open so big that they looked more like umbrellas then in this photo. I will say that it did look soo cool, the way the ruffles curled down. Anyway, pretty none the less. On Friday I was at an amazing leaders conference. However, Clyde was NOT excited about it. As you can see, he was all in the way. I truly am grateful for all that Stampin’…

Chicks a Bench and Gardening all in one week.
Chicks a Bench and Gardening Can you believe this weeks is about Chicks a Bench and Gardening. Of course I am going to start with the Chicks. You have not seen too much on them yet. These four little cuties are two Blue Sapphires and two Sillkies. They have had a fun adventure this week. How?? Well, they were getting too big for the little tub that I had them in. So, out to the coop they went. Now do not worry, they are separated from the Big Girls. As you can see they are safe. Joe has yet to remove the winter plywood. Which is a bonus at the…

Weeds Flowers Weeds and treasures Starting not with Weeds Flowers Weeds and treasures. I wanted to start with this beauty. Here is my Rose of Sharon “bush”. Which is more like a tree, but still. You can see this this photo that there is still TONS of blooms still to come. I have a purple-ish one, however, I think I need to move it. It really is not happy where it is. With all the new trees in the Memorial Garden I think I will put all of those up on the Hill on the north side of the property. That hill needs a summer bloomer. It is where my…

Lettuce Flowers and Furries all on the Homestead.
Lettuce Flowers and Furries Another week gone but this is what is going on Lettuce Flowers and Furries. The rain behind us a bit of a cool down and back to the humidity. It is the perfect formula for seeds. Imagine my surprise this week with how much these have grown. The petunias are dwarfed by the lettuce this week. I have take a couple little leafs for a sandwich, but need to be a little bit more patient. I saw the buds, but they all opened at once. HOLY COW, right?? They are as big as my hand. This Fiesta Hibiscus is also loving the humidity that has come…

Joe found this while trying to move around some “soil”, okay it is sand, but it is what I have. This is along our neighbors fence. Look at those beautiful yellow flowers. New chick, chickens and squash surprise.
Chick, Chickens and Squash Here is the Chick of the Chick, Chickens and Squash…. Remember LuLu was setting on 5 eggs, right?? Apparently once the twins started running around… She got up from the eggs with four still to go. As a diligent mom myself, I was checking frequently on the progress. Cold eggs will not hatch. A quick check of the four when LuLu was off the “nest”.. they were not warm. Quick action taken… I brought them in the house candled found two were empty. While checking this white one I accidentally cracked it. Heard a peep. Placed it in the incubator. There appeared to be something in…

Chickens, gardens, trees, more garden, fire pits and water.
Well, let me start by saying Joe came home from midnights on Wednesday morning full of energy. Determined not to waste a beautiful sunny day. Off to the races he began. Starting with the chicken coop. What am I talking about, well, lets just say that all the “fertilizer” was creating an issue with drainage. And doing it by hand with a shovel was just too big for either or both of us. Off came the side of the pen enclosure, in came the tractor. Now, there is a nice pile of “fertilizer” to spread around the trees. The small area is left, but the rain needs to quit to…
