Stampin’ Write vs Stampin’ Blends

Stampin' Write vs Stampin' Blends

Stampin’ Write vs Stampin’ Blends markers…

I would like to take a second to talk you through the different marker types that Stampin’ Up! offer… Starting with Stampin’ Write markers. These are a water based marker just like our ink pads. You can use them on your stamps to “color” an image or choose a water to highlight. Next is the Stampin’ Blends. They are an alcohol based marker. Quick to dry, easy to use to color a pearl and wonderful to color an already stamped image. Which would you choose Stampin’ Write vs Stampin’ Blends??

Water based sample…

For both the Stampin’ Write AND Stampin’ Blends I choose the same color scheme. To really give you the idea between the two different styles of markers. This flower uses Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Smokey Slate markers. I actually colored the stamp with the paint brush end of the marker. Layering and building the colored edges. Here is the fun part of this too, every image will be just slightly different each time you stamp.

Alcohol based sample…

I was sure to use all the same colors for this sunflower, but keep in mind that with the alcohol based markers each color has a light AND a dark. Also as a tip be sure that you are using Memento ink with your blends or the color will bleed into the colors. With using the Stampin’ Blends you also can build up your colors, but it does deepen the color. Dare I say even bring it to life??
